Why 2.4 GHz WiFi is bad

Table of contents

  1. WiFi in 5 GHz frequency range
  2. Rogue detector
  3. Disable 2.4 GHz

WiFi in 5 GHz frequency range

Normally I let my wireless access points operating in the 5 GHz frequency range. The 5 GHz frequency range has more channels and less interference from other devices like micro wave ovens, bluetooth, and so on.

Rogue detector

Just enabled on one of my wireless access points (running as rogue detector) the 2.4 GHz WiFi. I was quite surprised how bad and overloaded the 2.4 GHz frequency in my area is.

Disable 2.4 GHz

My conclusion is to always disable 2.4 GHz and use 5 GHz only.
